Abahani Tamim apologises for altercation in Doleshwar match, wants thorough investigation for wrong
Tamim, however, pleaded with the authorities to get to the root of the problem rather than blaming any one person for the altercation.
The rain-reduced match, which was suspended on Sunday at BKSP-3 following much drama over the fracas, was not held on the reserve day, Monday, either.
Tamim, who was involved in triggering the incident, has accepted the blame for his part in it and told bdnews24.com that he regretted it.
"I definitely shouldn't have reacted the way I did. It was the result of a momentary rush of blood. As a national team cricketer and an icon for many youngsters, I really shouldn't have done it," Tamim said on Monday night.
"I was a crucial moment in the match. The batsman came down the wicket and was clearly stumped. Our total was small, 191. That wicket would've been the third and could've brought the match in our control.
"All these things just suddenly made me excited. But whatever the situation was, I shouldn't have given that reaction. I apologise to everyone."
The Abahani players, led by their captain, protested against the decision. Tamim was seen having a heated argument with the official.
The fielders adopted an aggressive body language after play resumed, while the uproar also fuelled immense dissatisfaction among the Abahani supporters, who soon started swearing out loud.
At the end of the 17th over, match referee Montu Datta entered the field with the reserve umpire.
After having a chat with him, the on-field umpires, Gazi Sohel and Tanvir Ahmed, marched off the field and brought the game to a halt, with Doleshwar on 59-2.
Tamim, however, urged the administration to be thorough in their investigation.
"Such incidents often occur in our country. [The person held responsible] faces criticism, then he is fined to close the case. But why it happened is never considered.
"This also happened in the case of Shakib (Al Hasan). He has been penalised on different occasions - maybe rightly so - but under what circumstances does he or a cricketer resort to such action is always overlooked. As if, punishing the cricketer is the end of the story."
Later the umpires once again took to the field after consulting among themselves on Sunday and Doleshwar were given a revised target under the Duckworth-Lewis method.
But Doleshwar refused to continue playing under the revised conditions, though the sky was clear and they had nothing to answer for. Thus the match was suspended.
On Monday, the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) coordinator Amin Khan said there was no mention of a squabble in the report of the match referee.
Datta wrote the match was suspended as both the on-field umpires were sick. CCDM has asked BCB to determine the fate of the match.
Bd Economy records lowest inflation rate in a decade<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>
The inflation rate in theel eventh months of the
ongoing fiscal ending on June (30)
has slightly dropped in BD,
pushing the average inflation to its lowest in a decade.
The point-to-point inflation rate fell to 5.45 percent in May.It means a product or service that cost Tk 100 in May last year now costs Tk 105.45.
On a point-to-point basis, the inflation rate was 5.61 percent in April and 5.65 percent in March.
The average inflation rate in the past one year – from May 2015 to May 2016 – was 5.97 percent.
It was 6.40 percent between May 2014 and May 2015.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal disclosed the figures and made the observations while releasing the monthly inflation update of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) at a media call at the National Economic Council (NEC) on Monday.
He attributed the drop in inflation in May to massive Boro harvest and stability in the prices of essentials in the international market.
He said uninterrupted import and domestic productivity had also played a role in bringing the general inflation down.
Nazmul Huda moves close to government in Bd
He was at the Awami League chief’s political office at Dhanmondi for a meeting on Monday.
Afterwards he told reporters that his party, without joining the 14-Party alliance officially, will participate in a programme by the coalition against targeted killings.
A former BNP minister, he criticised the party led by Khaleda Zia. “They have got involved in various terror activities and now they want to fish in muddy waters.
“It held meetings with Israel and its spy agency Mossad in its effort to topple the government. So if we now strengthen the 14-Party, we will strengthen the prime minister.”
Mohammed Nasim, health minister and convenor of the ruling coalition, welcomed Huda for coming forward to join the protest against targeted killing.
“The exchange of views we’ve had with them is an ongoing process. The 14-Party alliance will hold similar talks with other non-communal parties,” he said.
Huda, the youngest standing committee member when it was founded, served twice as minister during Khaleda Zia’s tenure. But he was later expelled after being criticised within the party for his deeds and statements.
He lost his ministerial post in 1996 for providing an outline for the caretaker government system. He was vice chairman when he was thrown out of the party in 2010 for violating discipline.
He returned to the party in 2011 after apologising but on Jun 6, 2014, he announced his exit through a press conference. He then formed a unit of 31 political groups called Bangladesh National Alliance but it has not been very active.

“There are no more fighting and no more unnecessary blockades in the streets. There is peace now. Thanks to the prime minister who stopped the terrorism.”
