BNP’s Moudud suspects international conspiracy behind rise of militancy in Bangladesh<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>
Senior BNP leader Moudud Ahmed suspects there is
a conspiracy at the international level behind the spike in militancy
in Bangladesh.
“We hate militancy and extremism. It’s not a party problem; rather it’s a
national problem. We have no way to discount the possibility that an
international conspiracy is active behind it,” he said on Friday.
He, however, did not elaborate on the conspiracy theory.
Speaking
at a discussion in the capital, the former law minister blamed ‘the
lack of democracy’ in Bangladesh for the rise in militancy and
extremism.
Over 40 militant attacks have taken place in the
country since 2013 in which secular writers, bloggers, foreign
nationals, clerics of religious minority, publisher, and rights activist
have been murdered.
Moudud said it is not possible only for the
government to combat terrorism and militancy and suggested formation of
a national platform.
He also suggested holding a ‘free, fair’
national election and thereby forming a government accountable to the
people for tackling the menace..
