A trifle of a fracus between two children at
games has left their grandparents dead in Maddhapara of Goalgaon in
Jamalpur Upazila.
The incident took place on Thursday evening, said the district’s Superintendent of Police Md Nizam.He said a spat between ‘Shamim’, 7, and Manjurani, 8, over jackfruit seeds during play fireballed into a full-blown family feud. It claimed the lives of Shamim's grandfather Mandal Mia, 55, and Manjurani's grandfather Musharraf Hussain, 50.
SP Nizam said angry over the children fighting during the game, Musharaf and his family members mounted an attack on Mandal's family leaving the latter grievously injured. The counter assault from Mandal's family left Musharaf injured.
They were initially rushed to Bakshiganj health complex for treatment but when their conditions deteriorated, Mandal was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital while Musharraf was taken to Dhaka.
Mandal died about 2am on Friday while Musharraf died around 8 the same morning.
Police have detained four from the two families but refused to divulge their names.
